Hotel di Jakarta - MEXICALI – Dozens of aftershocks have followed Wednesday’s M5.8 earthquake that rocked the California-Mexico border.
The quakes have been centered about 23 miles southeast of Calexico near the extreme south end of the San Andreas Fault.
The main shock caused scattered minor damage in Mexicali and prompted the evacuation of several hospitals. There were no immediate reports of injuries on either side of the border.
The quake was felt as far away as San Diego and Los Angeles, parts of southwest Arizona and throughout the Imperial and Coachella Valleys.
Several hours later, a M3.3 earthquake struck southwest of Yucaipa in San Timoteo Canyon near the San Jacinto Fault.
